Real Madrid target £98m Inter Milan’s Mauro Icardi as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo

Last season, Icardi was the joint top scorer in the Serie A after equaling Ciro Immobile's 29 goals. However, he was left out of the Argentina’s Albiceleste squad to the just concluded 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia reportedly not to footballing reasons.
 The Los Blancos over the past hold Icardi in high esteem and Spanish news outlet Marca suggests the Santiago Bernabeu outfit are eager to table an offer following initial talk back in January. 


Icardi who previously represented Sampdoria has netted 100 times from 159 appearances for Inter in Serie A and reportedly has a £98million release clause in his present deal. 
The Los Blancos are equally eyeing a deal for Belgium star player Eden Hazard as they prepare to beat Barcelona to the Spanish league title in the coming season. 
The Galaticos are optimistic they can also seal a £35.5m deal for his Chelsea team-mate Thibaut Courtois as well.
